Upgrading and University Preparation
Workplace Training in Attitudes, Skills, & Knowledge (TASK)
certificate
This eight-month program offers students with disabilities the opportunity to gain self-management and employment skills and develop realistic career objectives in their chosen field. They will learn basic computer skills, including word processing and using e-mail and internet.
In the first semester, students focus on self discovery, exploration of work, developing work safety skills, and certification in WHMIS, FoodSafe, SuperHost, and First Aid.
During the second semester, students will learn and practice job research and job search skills. In addition, students gain on-the-job experience while on community-based work placements. Overall, the program will provide the employability, skills, and experience necessary for students to find employment or gain access to further training at 51ÎÛÂþ or elsewhere.
