Lower-level requirements: 18 credits
Three 100- or 200-level credits in each of the following three breadth areas:
Canada/US: one of HIST 101, 102, 103, 205, 221, 241, 242
Europe: one of HIST 119, 120, 121, 122, 211 (formerly 109), 212 (formerly 110), 213
Asia/Latin America: one of HIST 115, 161, 162, 235, 236, 264, 265
An additional nine 100- or 200-level history credits.
Note: Students may count three credits from THEA 203/ENGL 233 or THEA 204/ENGL 234 towards their History major or extended minor requirements.
Upper-level requirements: 32 credits
A minimum of 8 credits in Asia/Latin America: HIST 357, 358, 359, 364, 382, 385, 398, 457, 458, 459, 460, 464, 465, 486, 487.
Of the 32 credits, 12 must be at the 300 level and 12 must be at the 400 level.
History extended minor

Upper-level requirements: 16 credits
Sixteen 300- or 400-level history
credits.
Note 1: Students interested in teaching history at the high school level should take five upper-level courses (20 credits) to satisfy the requirements for a teachable subject.
Note 2: No more than four credits may be in Directed Studies courses.
