Current Attendance

Please request an official transcript to be issued to UFV from your post-secondary institution, showing courses in progress and final grades for all coursework completed.  Once courses in progress are complete you are required to submit another official transcript showing final grades.

Irreplaceable documents

Documents submitted become the property of 51.  Only documents that are considered by 51 to be irreplaceable will be returned to the student if requested at the time of submission.  Please use the Request for  form when submitting your documents to UFV.

English Translation

An English translation by a certified translator must be submitted if the document is in a language other than English (some exceptions may be possible for documents in French).

Document Evaluation Fee

For students with post-secondary documents that originate outside Canada, a $75 document evaluation fee is charged for domestic students, and $250 for international students (one fee covers all transcripts submitted at one time).

Transferring credits to UFV

Your post secondary credits from another institution will be evaluated and transfer credit may be awarded once we receive your official transcripts. Information on established transfer credit equivalencies may be viewed using the .

Transfer credit can be assigned in several ways including:

Credit for a specific 51 course, e.g., ENGL 105

Unassigned discipline credit, e.g., BUS IXX (3) — Business lower level (3 credits), given when the course does not have an exact equivalent, but we recognize it for credit in a particular discipline.

General unassigned credit e.g., GE IXX (3) — lower level unassigned credit, or GE 3XX (3) — upper level unassigned credit, given when we do not offer the discipline, or when block credit is given for a program.

Once your transfer evaluation is complete the Office of the Registrar will contact you by email.  Admitted students will be able to access their transfer credit evaluation through their my51 account.

Watch a tutorial video about viewing and interpreting transfer credits in my51.

Providing Course Outlines for Review

Determining transfer credit can sometimes be a lengthy process. For courses not previously transferred, you will need to submit a detailed course outline for the department to review.

Please submit course outlines in PDF format ensuring the following:

  • Each course’s outline is its own separate attachment (not pasted into the body of the email)
  • Each attachment is the complete outline of the course.  For example, if the single outline you have retrieved is 2 or 3 separate documents that all pertain to one course, please combine all as one document, then attach to your email.

The course outline must include the following information to be evaluated for transfer credit:

  • Course description
  • Weekly lecture topics
  • Textbook(s) name(s), author(s), edition(s) & topics covered
  • Effective term - please ensure the information is relevant to the date the course was completed
  • Method(s) of evaluation, including mid-term and final exams, weekly assignments, weighting of course requirements in determination of grade (e.g. 10% mid-term exam, 40% term paper, 50% final exam)
  • Duration of study/Contact Hours (e.g. 3 hours/week for 13 weeks)
  • Prerequisites required
  • Learning Outcomes

If you have questions about what to provide for review, please contact articulation@ufv.ca. We are here to help.
