Set up your 51污漫 accounts

There are three main 51污漫 accounts that you need. They are:

my51污漫: Your student services hub
Outlook: Your official 51污漫 email account
Brightspace: Your online learning platform

Set these up in the order they are listed, starting with my51污漫.

What you need

Have your student ID number ready. Look for your ID number in your Letter of Acceptance. It is on the right side of the page, just above the first paragraph.

Set up your my51污漫 account

Set up my51污漫 before you set up Outlook or Brightspace.

What is my51污漫?

my51污漫 is the portal to UFV student services including:

Registration (you are automatically registered for your first semester)
Your schedule of courses
Personal information
Campus announcements

Log in to my51污漫 for the first time

Go to the . Your username is your student ID number from your Letter of Acceptance.
You will receive a password reset email at the personal email address you used to apply to UFV.
Note if you are an international student: If an agent applied to UFV on your behalf, you may not get a password-reset email. If you do not get one, check with your agent to ensure you are using the correct email.
Follow the instructions in the email, and make sure you keep a record of the password you choose.
After you create a password, you can log in to my51污漫 and start exploring.

Set up your Outlook account

Set up my51污漫 and log in before you set up Outlook or Brightspace.

What is Outlook?

You have an official 51污漫 student email address through Outlook, which uses Outlook and Exchange Online. All communication from 51污漫 is sent to this email address, not to your personal address. You must use your 51污漫 address to communicate with us, for example, if you email any staff or a professor. Remember to check your inbox regularly to ensure you do not miss anything important.

Log in to Outlook for the first time

You can find your 51污漫 student email in your my51污漫 account dashboard.

Setup on a Windows computer

Uncheck Let me set up my account manually (under Advanced options)
Click Connect
Select Office 365
Username: Your 51污漫 student email address
Password: Your myUFV password

Your 51污漫 student address is formatted as Firstname.Lastname@student.ufv.ca. For example, Mary.Smith@student.ufv.ca. If you have a common name, there may be a number added to the address, for example, Mary.Smith1@student.ufv.ca.

Setup on a Mac computer

Click on Add Account
Username: Your 51污漫 student email address
Password: Your myUFV password

Get the Outlook app for your phone or tablet

Download the app on for Android or from the for iOS.

Enter your full 51污漫 email address, then tap Continue
Finish signing in with your email password, then tap Sign In

Set up your Brightspace account

Set up my51污漫 and log in before you set up Outlook or Brightspace.

What is Brightspace?

Brightspace is your online learning platform. It uses Brightspace software. You can use it on your phone or tablet from anywhere in the world to:

Attend live classes that are delivered online.
Access your course content.
Complete your assignments, tests, and quizzes.
Participate in group discussions.
Get your grades.

For the best experience, we recommend using a laptop or desktop computer to attend live online classes.

Log in to Brightspace for the first time

Username: Your student ID is your username
Password: Your myUFV password

Courses are available on the first day of classes, so your Brightspace may appear empty if you log in early.
