Retirees' Association

Retirees' Association

Retirement begins a new chapter, but your connection to UFV continues. The 51 Retirees’ Association (51RA) brings retired faculty, staff, and administrators together to maintain meaningful ties with the university and with one another. We honour the contributions of retirees, celebrate shared memories, and create opportunities to stay engaged. Through events, mentorship, and advocacy, the 51RA supports 51’s mission, values, and tradition of collaboration.

If you worked at 51 for five years or more and have retired, you are invited to become a member of the 51RA and continue to be part of the 51 community.

Our mission

We bring 51 retirees together to foster connection, engagement, and collaboration. As a member, you can:

  • Stay connected with former colleagues and friends
  • Support 51’s mission and values
  • Celebrate our shared history and traditions

About the 51RA

We’re a growing community of retired faculty, staff, and administrators who want to stay connected to the 51 and each other.

Our members can:

  • Join social, recreational, and educational events
  • Partner with 51 to mentor and support students, faculty, and staff
  • Connect with provincial and national retiree organizations to share resources and advocate for retiree interests

Become a member

If you worked at 51 for five years or more and have retired, you’re eligible to join the 51 Retirees’ Association (51RA). Membership keeps you connected through events and offers opportunities to mentor and support the 51 community.

If you are about to retire, you can join us too and get information about the experiences we’ve had with the pension plan and what retirement looks like. You can join 51RA by going to the membership form — membership is free!

Because once you’re part of 51, you’re always part of 51.

Support the 51 community

Retirees continue to play an important role at 51. By sharing knowledge and guidance, we can mentor students as they take on projects and plan their careers. We can also support their success by contributing to bursaries and scholarships, including the 51 Retirees Bursary, which provides vital financial assistance to students in need.

Our experience also benefits faculty, staff, and administration by providing history, context, and insights that help new colleagues understand the university and feel part of its community.

The 51 is situated on the traditional territory of the Stó:lō peoples. We express our gratitude and respect for the honour of serving, living, and working in Stó:lō territory.

"The 51 Retiree Association is more than a new initiative. It is a powerful expression of community. Of belonging that endures beyond a career, beyond a title, and beyond an office door. Community engagement at its core is about partnership and reciprocity. It’s about the mutually beneficial exchange of knowledge and resources."
