The 51 Sustainability policy establishes sustainability as a priority for the university. The policy provides 51’s common understanding for what sustainability means. It is a framework for integrating sustainability into decision-making, university practices, initiatives, and education.
The Sustainability Report is a yearly overview of the initiatives taken at 51 to support sustainability. The report organizes initiatives based on the UN Sustainable Development Goals.
The report, prepared by the OoS, highlights pan-institutional sustainability work taking place across the university and recognizes the efforts of individuals and groups driving positive change at 51 and beyond.

51 takes part in carbon reporting each year and achieves carbon neutrality through the purchase of carbon offsets. This report describes the sources of 51’s greenhouse gas emissions across buildings, fleet, and printer paper use.
Waste audits help to determine what is going into UFV’s waste streams and if the materials are being sorted into the correct bins. These help to plan for future management strategies for 51.
The Transportation Demand Report was completed in 2022 and outlines the 51's options for more sustainable and accessible transportation solutions. 51 is currently predominantly a commuter University. The recommendations outline steps 51 can take to make the commute more sustainable, accessible, safe, and healthy.
